Whirlwind Academy Tour
Amazing whirlwind tour to New York, London and Copenhagen to meet new and existing Academy members. Hundreds of them! And so excited to see and know of the great films coming out in the fall.
In NY: Our member reception drew out fellow governor Whoopi Goldberg and Hugh Jackman, (who graciously took the night off from THE MUSIC MAN in which he is amazing!!), along with a whole bunch of other fantastic New York members. Though I don’t miss living in New York, I still love the lively inimitable spirit of New Yorkers.
And Bill Kramer keeps me laughing.
In London: Spoke at the Women’s luncheon at Claridge’s, perhaps one of the most gorgeous hotels in the world.
Had fun sitting next to Greta Gerwig in hot pink!
To top things off, our member reception in London took place at the National Gallery! So many amazing members there, including some of the most formidable screen actors, Jessica Chastain and Eddie Redmayne, and Florence Pugh with director Sebastian Lelio.
In Copenhagen, our reception took place at the US Ambassadors home, where I got to meet the brilliant directors whom I’ve long admired, Thomas Vinterberg and Bille August.
Last but not least, fellow Governor Susanne Bier welcomed us to her beautiful house for a home-cooked meal. That was the perfect end to a great trip.
